Brief

We were approached by the Institute of Quarrying, a professional membership body representing 5,000 people working for the quarrying industry.

They were about to embark on a project to develop a membership app, and thus were looking to canvas members on desirable features.

They were also interested in holding wider discussions around member communication and educational resources.

Approach

We ran a focus group for a representative selection of members, discussing the various types of content produced by the Institute and the merits of each.

Participants were arranged on cabaret tables, spending half the time in large-group plenary discussions, with the rest in more focused breakout groups.

We facilitated discussions and recorded all output.

The

Outcome

We produced a comprehensive report summarising the output of the focus group.

These insights were taken forward to contribute to a marketing and communications plan, as well as informing a brief for a solutions provider to build the app.
